Certified Lions FC Brings Oklahoma Communities Together at Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration

October 13, 2026 | Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY — Certified Lions FC joined the Indigenous Peoples’ Day celebration at the First Americans Museum (FAM) on Monday, October 12, bringing professional soccer players, high school student-athletes, and families together for a day centered on culture, community, and connection.

As part of the museum’s Sovereignty in Motion celebration, the Lions participated in soccer activities that brought young athletes from different Oklahoma schools together, creating opportunities for students to represent their schools while sharing the field with players from Oklahoma City’s professional indoor soccer club.

The event highlighted the ability of sports to connect people across different backgrounds and communities while honoring the significance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

Bringing Schools and Communities Together

One of the most meaningful aspects of the day was seeing student-athletes from different schools come together through their shared passion for soccer.

Although the players represented different schools, they had the opportunity to participate alongside one another, interact with Certified Lions players and coaches, and experience the game in an environment focused on unity rather than school rivalries.

For Certified Lions FC, the experience reflected a central part of the club’s mission: creating opportunities for Oklahoma athletes while using soccer to strengthen relationships throughout the state.

Beyond the high school activities, Lions players and staff spent time engaging with younger children and families, sharing their love for the game through interactive soccer activities and personal connections.

A Meaningful Celebration at First Americans Museum

Indigenous Peoples’ Day recognizes the histories, cultures, contributions, and continuing presence of Indigenous peoples.

Hosting the celebration at First Americans Museum provided an important setting for bringing communities together and recognizing the rich Indigenous heritage that continues to shape Oklahoma.

Certified Lions FC was honored to participate in the museum’s celebration and contribute through an activity that welcomes people of different ages, schools, and backgrounds.

The club believes soccer can serve as a bridge between communities, creating connections that extend beyond the field.

Connecting With Oklahoma City Leadership

The event also provided an opportunity for Certified Lions players and staff to connect with Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt, who spent time meeting members of the club and participating student-athletes.

The interaction reflected the importance of community relationships as Certified Lions continues expanding its presence throughout Oklahoma City.

While the club remains committed to competing at the professional level, its vision extends beyond game results. Building relationships with schools, families, community organizations, and local leaders remains an important part of its long-term development.

Creating Opportunities Beyond the Game

Certified Lions FC was founded with a commitment to identifying and supporting Oklahoma soccer talent, particularly players who may not otherwise receive opportunities for exposure at the professional level.

Events such as Indigenous Peoples’ Day allow the club to carry that mission beyond the arena.

By bringing professional players into community settings, Certified Lions hopes to inspire younger generations, encourage participation in soccer, and demonstrate that meaningful opportunities can begin close to home.

The club’s continued involvement in local schools and community events reflects its belief that professional sports organizations have a responsibility to contribute to the communities they represent.

A Thank You to Our Community

Certified Lions FC extends its sincere appreciation to First Americans Museum for welcoming the club and providing the opportunity to participate in this meaningful celebration.

The club also thanks the participating schools, student-athletes, coaches, families, volunteers, and event organizers whose involvement made the day possible.

Special appreciation goes to everyone who helped bring young athletes from different communities together and create an experience centered on respect, participation, and unity.

For Certified Lions FC, the day’s greatest success was not measured by goals or results, but by the connections created between players, children, families, and communities.

Lions is who we are. Certified is the standard we live by.
