Certified Lions Secure 11-4 Victory Over Texas Spurs
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK - OKC Certified Lions continued their strong start to the MASL 2 season with a commanding 11–4 victory over the Texas Spurs on the road at TOCA Soccer Center Allen. The win marked the Lions’ first away match of the campaign and lifted them to a perfect 3–0 record.
The Lions wasted no time asserting control, racing out to a 4–0 advantage early in the first quarter. Texas found a late response before the end of the period, scoring twice to cut the deficit to 4–2, but that would be as close as the match would get.
From that point on, the lions dictated the tempo on both sides of the ball. Relentless pressure, sharp ball movement, and disciplined defensive rotations allowed the visitors to steadily pull away, outscoring the Spurs across the remaining quarters to close out the 11–4 result.
Jesus Rodriguez and Fernando Penalver led the Lions’ attacking charge, each finishing the night with four goals. Penalver’s performance continued his prolific run of form, pushing his season total to 11 goals and placing him at the top of the MASL 2 scoring chart.
Beyond the scoresheet, the Lions benefited from balanced contributions throughout the lineup, with consistent defensive work and timely saves ensuring the Spurs were kept in check after their early surge.
The victory marked the second meeting between the two sides this season and reinforced the team's position at the top of the MASL 2 standings. Remaining unbeaten through three matches.
