Doubleheader Sweep Extends MASL 2 Unbeaten Run
February 25, 2026 — OKC Certified Lions FC secured two home victories during a scheduled doubleheader at the OG&E Coliseum this past weekend. The club recorded an 8-3 win over Guadalajara Mariachis FC in MASL 2 competition before completing the sweep with a 20-2 result against the Springfield Demize in MASL 3.
MASL 2: Tactical Execution and 7-0 Record
The opening fixture against Guadalajara Mariachis FC was defined by a productive opening period for the home side. The Lions established an early advantage, scoring five unanswered goals in the first 15 minutes. Ruben Torres initiated the scoring at 14:38, followed by contributions from Jesus Rodriguez, Aboubakr Diallo (2), and Alexis Espinosa.
Guadalajara increased their offensive pressure in the third period, scoring three times. However, the Lions remained composed as Espinosa added a second goal, alongside strikes from Cameron Burleson and Kenneth Gaytan, to finalize the 8-3 scoreline.
With this result, the Certified Lions’ MASL 2 squad moves to a 7-0 record for the season. The club remains in second place in the standings, trailing only Mexico City.

In the night’s second fixture, the Lions’ MASL 3 squad faced the Springfield Demize. The Lions utilized a high-tempo transition game to exploit openings in the Demize defense throughout the match.
The 20-2 final score reflected the clinical nature of the Lions' finishing and the depth available within the organization’s development system. The victory concludes a high-scoring weekend for the club, with a total of 28 goals recorded across both competitive tiers.

1st Star: Aboubakr Diallo – Led the offense with a 4-point performance, consisting of 3 goals and 1 assist.
2nd Star: Ronaldo Monroy – Recorded a hat trick (3 goals) to contribute significantly to the scoreline.
3rd Star: Andres Fuentes – Provided exceptional defensive support with 7 saves, allowing only 1 goal during his time in net.
Operational Update: Schedule Adjustment
The OKC Certified Lions FC front office has announced that the scheduled away fixture against Soles de Sonora has been postponed to April 9th.
This adjustment to the schedule is a precautionary measure due to the current security environment in Mexico. The safety of the club's players and staff is the primary concern. The organization is monitoring the situation in coordination with league officials and will provide further scheduling updates when necessary.
