Lions Secure Dominant Back-to-Back Wins at OG&E Coliseum

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Lions extended their current winning streak on December 27, recording two decisive victories during a double-header at the OG&E Coliseum. The team secured wins in both MASL 2 and MASL 3 competition, highlighted by record-setting individual scoring performances.

“We came out focused from the first whistle and made sure to set the tone early,” said captain Fernando Penalver. “Playing at home in front of our fans gives us extra energy, and we wanted to show what this group is capable of.”

MASL 2: Lions vs. Texas Spurs

In the opening fixture, the Lions hosted the Texas Spurs. The match remained competitive through the early stages before the Lions' offensive pressure dictated the tempo, resulting in a 13-5 victory.

Captain Fernando Penalver led the scoring effort with a "super hat-trick," netting four goals in the contest. With this performance, Penalver brings his season total to 7 goals, move him into the position of top scorer in the MASL 2.


MASL 3: Lions vs. RGV Barracudas

The momentum carried into the second match of the evening against the MASL 3 defending champions, the RGV Barracudas. The Lions earned their third consecutive league victory with a 13-4 win, showcasing consistent defensive organization and transition play.

“Everyone did their job tonight,” said Aboubakr Diallo. “The goals matter, but it’s about the work rate, the chemistry, and keeping standards high as we keep building momentum this season.”

Aboubakr Diallo delivered a standout performance, continuing his efficient start to the season. Diallo has now recorded 13 goals in league play, currently holding the title of top scorer across the MASL 3 circuit.

Following this home stand, both squads will begin a series of road fixtures:

  • MASL 2: The Lions travel to face the Texas Spurs on January 3 at the TOCA Soccer Center in Allen, Texas.

  • MASL 3: The team will head to the Wichita Edge Sports Complex on January 10 to face Deportivo Shaolin (Kansas City).
